Brax Sutherland Obituary, Death – Sutherland passed away unexpectedly. It is with deep regret that we share this news with you. The eldest of Douglas and Margaret Sutherland’s two sons, Ian was born on June 21, 1939, in Lethbridge, Alberta. His parents, Douglas and Margaret Sutherland, were both born in Saskatoon. In the footsteps of his father, he sought employment with Canada Trust, which led him first to London, Ontario and later to Regina. Here in 1969 he quickly met and married his great love Meredith. She is the only one of their family members to outlive him, together with their children Duncan (Julia), who lives in London, England, and Megan (Ryder), who lives in Vancouver.

After that, Ian went on to have a career as a healthcare administrator for close to thirty years. In 1982, his job led him and his family to Saskatoon, where he first worked at the University Hospital and subsequently joined the Department of Health. Twenty years of that time were spent under his able leadership as chairman of the SAHO Employee Benefits Committee.

At the age of 58, he completed his Master of Business Administration degree at the College of Commerce after attending evening sessions there while working as a senior administrator at the hospital. The project in Ukraine was a particular highlight of this class; however, even though he was working full-time and going to school full-time, he made sure that he still had time for his family.
