Carlos Shacar Obituary, Remembering Carlos Michael Shacar: A Legacy of Courage and Love

Carlos Shacar Obituary, Death – Carlos Michael Shacar, 83, of Lanesboro, peacefully passed away at his home on June 23, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on November 4, 1939, in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba, he was the beloved son of Michel and Herminia Hernandez Shacar. On August 17, 1963, he united in marriage with the former Sandra Bartolomei, sharing a loving and devoted bond.

Carlos served as a dedicated court officer in the Berkshire County Court System, contributing his talents to General Electric and Martin Marietta for over 30 years.

In his leisure time, he found joy in bowling, watching sports, and engaging in outdoor activities. Carlos proudly served in the army, achieving the rank of Sergeant (T) within a remarkable four years, and bravely serving during the Vietnam War.

Survived by his cherished wife, Sandra Bartolomei Shacar of Lanesboro, he leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Carlos Jr. and Ann of Lanesboro, Anthony of Santa Monica, CA, Tina Paradise and Derek of Ohio, and Desiree Nicole Shacar and Benjamin of Pittsfield.

Additionally, he will be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren: Louis and Joseph Shacar, Anita, Laura, and Derek Jr. Paradise, Jason Sweetser, Madison Burke, and Mason Shacar. Carlos was preceded in death by his sisters, Nora M. O’Brien and Martha Thompson.

A mass in his honor will be held at St Charles Church in Pittsfield on a date to be announced.
