Cleatis Selby Obituary, Resident Of Georgia Has Died At 95

Cleatis Selby Obituary, Death – Cleatis “Jim” P. Selby, 95, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away at Graham Hospital in Canton on Friday, June 30, 2023. His parents, Gussie and Cecil (Brookhart) Selby, gave birth to him on October 3, 1927, in Missouri. They all passed away before he did.

He leaves behind his wife of more than half a century, Sarah Stehl; their two children, Carma Jones of Smithfield and Stacey Calvin of Havana; five grandchildren, Zachary (Meghan) Ford, Nathan (Nicole) Jones, Dexter Ford, Sarah (Clark) Bogner, and Jacob Calvin; three great-grandchildren, Gabe Ford, Gavin Ford, and Grant Jones; one great-granddaughter on the way; and one son in law, Terry Ford.

His parents, daughter Bonnie Ford, six siblings, and in-laws David Jones and Mike Calvin all before him in death. Jim served honorably in the Navy. He spent a lot of time in the building industry. Jim was a diehard supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals. He was always up-to-date on the news because he read the paper every day. He took great pride in being called “Papa” by all of his grandchildren. He liked having friends and family over for a chat and a cold one, and he also liked entertaining guests.

On Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., a memorial ceremony will be place at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. There will be a viewing one hour before the services begin. Interment will take place at Marietta Cemetery right away.
