Geraldyne Johnson Obituary, Death – Geraldyne Irons Johnson, affectionately known as “Jerry,” passed away on June 26, 2023, at the age of 90 after a brief illness. She was born on July 5, 1932, in Greenville, Texas, to Raymond and Ethel Irons. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Helen Wall, and her loving husband, Ralph Johnson, whom she married in 1959 and shared a life with in Jackson, Tennessee.

Mrs. Johnson had a passion for education and spent several years as a teacher before becoming a dedicated homemaker. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from East Texas State University (now Texas A&M at Commerce) in 1953 and a Master of Science Degree in Education from North Texas State University in 1954. Her teaching career began in the Dallas public schools.

A faithful member of First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mrs. Johnson had a deep desire to share the gospel of Jesus with others. She held a special place in her heart for missions, demonstrating her compassion and love for people near and far.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Mark Johnson (Pamela) of Trenton, Tennessee; her daughter, Julie Johnson of Jackson; two grandchildren, Victoria Reeves (Benjamin) of Birmingham, Alabama, and Ross Johnson of Alamo; two great-grandchildren, Kate Reeves and Caroline Reeves, both of Birmingham; a sister-in-law, Jane Hutson of De Leon Springs, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews scattered across the country.

Graveside services to honor Mrs. Johnson’s life will take place at Brown’s Church Cemetery in Jackson at 11:30 am on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Prior to the service, a visitation with the family will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home, providing an opportunity for loved ones to offer their condolences and support during this difficult time. The heartfelt memories and lasting impact Mrs. Johnson leaves behind will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
