James Donohue Obituary, Death –With profound sadness, the Uniformed Fire Officers Association announces the untimely passing of Lieutenant James K. Donohue, a dedicated member of Ladder 8.
Appointed on January 10, 1981, and retired on December 18, 2010, Lieutenant Donohue courageously served the City of New York, safeguarding lives and property throughout his esteemed career. It is with heavy hearts that we mourn his loss, as he departed from this world on June 30, 2023.
Lieutenant Donohue’s unwavering dedication to duty and selflessness was exemplified during the tragic events at Manhattan Box 5-5-8087, the World Trade Center. His indomitable spirit and unwavering commitment to rescue and recovery efforts will forever be remembered and honored.
In this time of deep grief, our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Lieutenant James K. Donohue. A wake will be held at Doyle B. Shaffer Funeral Home, located at 45-09 Little Neck Pkwy., Little Neck, NY.
Viewing hours will take place on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, from 1400 to 1600 and 1800 to 2000, as well as on Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 1400 to 1600 and 1800 to 2000.
The Funeral Mass will be conducted on Friday, July 7, 2023, at 0945 hours, at St. Anastasia Roman Catholic Church, situated at 45-14 245th Street, Douglaston, NY. We extend a heartfelt invitation to all off-duty members and their families to join us in honoring Lieutenant James K. Donohue during this solemn occasion.
In remembrance of his service and in unity, all attending members are respectfully requested to wear their dress uniforms as a tribute to Lieutenant Donohue’s remarkable legacy. May his valiant soul find eternal peace as we cherish his memory and honor his selfless contributions to our great city.
