James Young Obituary, Green City Resident Has Died At 87
James Young Obituary, Death – James Leon Young, 87, of Green City, Missouri, passed away at Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan on the morning of Saturday, June 24, 2023. He was born south of Green City on August 1, 1935, to parents named Harley W. and Nettie J. (Clelland) Young.
James was married to the late Norma June (Pierson) Young on May 3, 1959. She predeceased him. James leaves behind a wife, Dorothy K. Smith of Kansas City, a daughter, Shelly (Alan) Eisenmann of Green City, a son-in-law, Doug Bowling of Glenwood, Missouri, a brother, Donald Ray Young of Florida, a sister-in-law, Maxine (Hugh Dean) Eddy of Milan, a sister-in-law, Darlene (Riley) Perkins of Liberty, Missouri, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Sherry Lynn Bowling, his only daughter, as well as four sisters and three brothers predeceased him. James attended Green City R-1 and grew up in the neighborhood. He graduated in 1953. Before James took over as manager of the MFA Exchange in 1972, he and Norma had been farmers. From 1974 to 1976, he oversaw operations at Green City Livestock, and from 1976 through 1988, he owned and operated B&Y Farm Supply. James’s death did not mark the end of his farming career.
James was devoted to his friends and neighbors. He was usually up for a visit and wore a cheerful expression. James Young’s funeral is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM. Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Green City on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. The funeral home will be open for visitors on Monday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
