John Cortner Obituary, Death – With heavy hearts, we share the devastating news of the sudden passing of John David “Dave” Cortner on Sunday, June 25, 2023. Born on November 15, 1945, Dave was the beloved youngest son of the late Clarence Cortner and Edna Prince Cortner.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Jane, who stood by his side through life’s joys and challenges. He leaves behind a cherished legacy in his children: daughter Yvette (Wade) McCallie of Tullahoma, sons Alex Cortner of Roswell, GA, and John Cortner of Tumwater, WA.

He was a dear brother to Bob (June) Cortner of Winchester and a proud grandfather to Maddie and Colin of Tullahoma. Additionally, he is remembered by his nephew Jim (Holly) Cortner of Winchester, nephew Jeremy (Emily) Donaldson of Huntsville, AL, and brother-in-law Murrel (Kim) Donaldson of Huntland.

Dave’s professional journey encompassed a diverse range of roles, from serving in the United States Navy for four years to pursuing careers as a funeral director, banker, and Nationwide Insurance agent.

Yet, his true passions in life were flying, duck hunting, indulging in literature, and embarking on adventures in his RV. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, whose lives he touched with his kind heart and unwavering presence.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.

The interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens, where Dave will find eternal rest. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers, honoring his memory and accompanying him on his final journey.

In this time of profound loss, let us hold dear the memories we shared with Dave and find solace in the enduring love he leaves behind. May his soul find eternal peace, and may we find strength in one another as we navigate through this challenging time.
