John Stambaugh Obituary, Death – It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of John Ronald “Rone” Stambaugh, aged 77, in Chambersburg, PA, on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at his residence. Born on December 8, 1945, in Chambersburg, he was the beloved son of the late John M. and N. Grayce Eberly Stambaugh.
Rone graduated from CASHS in 1965 and dedicated 42 years of his life to Nitterhouse Concrete, retiring in 2008 as a Production Scheduler. Known for his selflessness and love for others, Rone was deeply involved in various community organizations.
He served on the board of Directors of the New Franklin Volunteer Fire Dept., fireman’s relief, and was a life member of the New Franklin Vol. Fire Dept., where he held the esteemed position of past Chief.
Additionally, he enjoyed mowing grass at the Gettysburg National Battlefield Park, actively participated in the Boy Scouts of America, and served with the Cumberland Valley Jersey Breeders.
While Rone found joy in his many interests such as golf, civil war history, NASCAR, hockey, baseball, camping, and softball in his younger years, his true happiness lay in spending time with his family and at the firehouse.
He leaves behind two children, Lori Hepfer (husband John) of Orrstown, PA, and Adam Stambaugh (wife Brianna) of Chambersburg, PA, as well as a cherished granddaughter, Kaylyn Hepfer, and great-grandson, Jenson Rine.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 12 noon in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, located at 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Lawrence Metzler will officiate the service. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends for two hours at the funeral home.
Private interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Rone’s name to the New Franklin Volunteer Fire Company at 3444 Wayne Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202.
