Norma was born on February 23, 1933, in Clarkfield, MN, to Noman and LeVerna (Severson) Reishus. She grew up on a farm in Normania Township and graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1951. After attending Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, for a year, she met the love of her life, Ralph Dovre, at a 4-H softball tournament. They exchanged vows on June 6, 1953, at St. Lucas Lutheran Church in rural Cottonwood and recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Norma’s legacy lives on through her six children, fifteen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Norma played a vital role in managing the family farm, adapting to changing times from the days of shoebox bookkeeping to computerized records. She had a passion for music and shared that love as a choir director, pianist, and organist at Bethel Lutheran Church. Norma actively participated in the community as a 4-H leader and a member of various organizations including the Women’s Federation Club, American Cancer Society, and SMAHC. Her green thumb was evident in her beautiful flower gardens, and she generously shared her harvest and gardening skills with friends, family, and the YMC Fair.

In her leisure time, Norma enjoyed playing cards, reading books, square dancing, painting, and quilting. The family created many cherished memories during their travels across the United States and Canada in a jam-packed Suburban with their six lively kids and a trailer in tow. Norma and Ralph also relished their winters spent in Bella Vista, Arkansas, and embraced the joys of travel.

Norma will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Ralph Dovre; children: Diane (Ray) Radatz, Carol (Mark) Hruby, Linda (Greg) Kockelman, Donald (Gloria) Dovre, Neil (Sandy) Dovre, and Jill (Kevin Hendrick) Dovre; fifteen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Kaye (Sharon) Reishus and Terry (Sue) Reishus; sister-in-law Marge Reishus; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and LeVerna Reishus; brother, John Reishus; and infant sister, Marla Reishus. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, Sanford Canby Hospice – Neva’s Fund, or The Connection of Canby, MN.
