Lennie Hamilton Obituary, Death – It is with profound sadness that the Needham VFW Post mourns the loss of our dear friend and esteemed banquet manager, Lennie Hamilton. With heavy hearts, we share the obituary and funeral arrangements of a man whose presence brightened our lives.

Lynwood Dale “Lennie” Hamilton, a resident of Needham, Massachusetts, peacefully departed this earthly realm at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family on July 2, 2023, at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, Massachusetts. Lennie was born on November 15, 1941, in Bar Harbor, Maine, and settled in Needham in 1954.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Barrie Lee Hamilton of Needham, Massachusetts, his devoted daughters, Lee Ann Wallace and her husband, Kevin Wallace of Wrentham, Massachusetts, and Barrie Lynn Wise of Needham, Massachusetts.

Lennie’s legacy also lives on through his five cherished grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and his dear siblings, Judith Hamilton and Duane Hamilton.

Lennie, a graduate of Needham High School’s Class of 1960, furthered his education at Burdett College. His dedication to public service shone brightly during his 35-year tenure with the Needham Police Department, where he exemplified unwavering commitment as one of its most respected officers. In retirement, Lennie’s greatest joy came from spending quality time with his grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable pride and joy. Additionally, Lennie devoted his time to the Needham VFW Post 2498, skillfully managing social events and catering services with utmost care.

Visiting hours to honor Lennie’s memory will take place on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home located at 1351 Highland Avenue, Needham, Massachusetts. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Parish, located at 1180 Greendale Avenue, Needham, Massachusetts.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Lennie’s memory may be made to the Society of African Missions at 337 Common Street, Dedham, Massachusetts, 02026. Let us honor Lennie’s legacy of friendship and service by supporting causes dear to his heart.
