Loretta Matterface Obituary, Death – Loretta Matterface of Fortune has passed away, and her family regretfully shares the news. On July 6th, 2023, at the age of 78, Loretta died away at the Agnes Pratt Nursing Home in St. John’s.

Her niece Pamela and her husband Claude in Garnish, her sisters Mary Margaret Myles in Frenchman’s Cove, Sheila Bungay in Grand Bank, Jean Grandy in Grand Bank, Diane Stacey in Grand Bank, and Bernadine Tucker in Toronto, and her brothers Patrick Stacey in Fortune, Brian in Point May, Paul in Point May, and Gerard in Point May, as well as her brother-in-law Frank Hillier.

Thanks also to Loretta’s sister Jean and family, Mary Margaret and family, and niece Michelle Way for their kindness and patience as the sickness advanced, as well as to the personnel at The Agnes Pratt Nursing Home, where she spent her final years. The help was tremendously valued. The Noftall family of St. John’s, Newfoundland, especially Louise and Gary, are very appreciated. We deeply appreciate all of your years of unwavering support and affection for Loretta. You’ve become more than just friends to her; you’re family. When you entered Loretta’s life, it was a huge relief. You are and were a miracle to many.

Loretta’s husband Mansfield, her parents Patrick and Theresa Stacey, her sisters Yvonne, Madonna, Suzanne (Tom), and Bridget (Maurice), her brothers Dennis and Rene, her brother-in-law Sam, her brothers Almon, Aubrey, and Bramdatt Deonarine, and her in-laws Gerald and Margaret Matterface, all preceded her in death. On Monday, July 10, 2023, at 1pm, the Stacey family will hold a prayer and Funeral Service at Wiseman’s Funeral Home in Fortune. Before the funeral, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, there will be a gathering to honor Loretta’s life. Future inurnment is planned. Donations in Loretta’s name can be donated to the Stella Burry Unit of the Long Term Care Department at the Agnes Pratt Nursing Home.
