Margaret Irvine Obituary, Guardian at Crossword Setter Nutmeg Has Died
Margaret Irvine Obituary, Death – When I learned that Margaret Irvine, the person who was responsible for developing the crossword puzzle Nutmeg for the Guardian Daily, had passed away, I was both shocked and genuinely heartbroken. Margaret Irvine was the person who created the puzzle.
On May 8, 2006, she made her debut in the Guardian with a Quiptic, and throughout the course of her career, she would go on to add 80 problems to that series of puzzles. Her first appearance was in the Guardian. She maintained her status as a Quiptic during her entire career.
It wasn’t until well over 6 years later, on the 20th of September 2013, that she would make her daily debut, and right from the get-go it was obvious that she was something remarkable because she stood out from the very beginning of her appearances in the daily episodes. On a daily basis, she made her initial appearance for the first time. When she finished her first Saturday Prize puzzle on July 13, 2019, she attained the milestone of having finished 100 daily puzzles and became eligible for the Saturday Prize. This day also marked the occasion of her first-ever victory in a Saturday Prize puzzle.
