Nik Sperounis Obituary, Chelmsford High School Athlete Has Died At 18

Nik Sperounis Obituary, Death – Nikolas Charles Sperounis, 18, of Chelmsford, died on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Boston Children’s Hospital, surrounded by his beloved family, after a gallant struggle with Angiosarcoma. Charles B. Sperounis and Mary (Hennessey) Sperounis gave birth to him on August 31, 2004 in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Nik graduated from Chelmsford High School in 2023. He was a three-sport athlete at CHS, serving as captain of the football team, captain of the wrestling team, and member of the lacrosse team. During the football season, he received the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston’s Henry J. Smith Courage Award. He was also appointed as a mentor at Chelmsford High School. His happiest place was the beach. Every year, he looked forward to spending time with the “boys of summer” in Seabrook and vacationing with his family on Cape Cod. He looked forward to witnessing the sunset over the ocean every day.

With his father, brother, uncles, and other relatives, he enjoyed trekking, camping, and fishing. Nikolas is survived by his loving parents, his older brother Joe St.Hilaire, whom he admired and looked up to; his sister Tricia Sperounis, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond; his puppy Bruno, whom he adored; his Grammy Helen Hennessey, whom he cherished; his uncle Jimmy “Jimbo” Hennessey, who was like a second father; and his cousins Michael and Bobby, who were like Megan. Unfortunately, his maternal grandfather Joseph F. Hennessey, paternal grandparents Charles and Patricia Sperounis, and uncle Alan Hennessey all died before him.

We are grateful to his Dana Farber doctors, Lindsey and Nitin (called “Batman and Robin”), as well as the entire Jimmy Clinic and Children’s Hospital personnel, as well as his VNA nurse Holly and physical therapist Claudia. Everyone took excellent care of him. Nik had a beautiful heart, an amazing laugh, a terrific sense of humor, and a gorgeous grin that lit up whatever place he walked into. Nik will be remembered fondly by his family and long-time pals Manny, Joey T, Alec, and the “boys of summer.” Live your life for Him. NS21
