Norma Read Obituary, Death – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Norma Gail Read, a beloved resident of Snellville, Georgia, on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the age of 80. Surrounded by her loved ones, Mrs. Read embraced eternal rest, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever remain in our hearts.

Mrs. Read had a zest for life and found joy in exploring new places, collecting figurines, and immersing herself in the spirit of Christmas. With her culinary talents and green thumb, she delighted in preparing delicious meals and tending to her garden with patience and care.

Above all, Mrs. Read’s devotion to her family was unwavering, and she took great pride in her grandchildren, showering them with love and affection. Her kind and nurturing nature touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born in Selma, Alabama, Mrs. Read spent her formative years amidst the serene countryside of Jones, Alabama. She graduated from Dallas County High School in 1960, after which she married the love of her life, Richard Franklin Read. For nearly sixty-three years, their bond remained unbreakable.

In 1963, the couple settled in Georgia, where Mrs. Read embarked on a successful career in the banking industry, leaving a lasting impact at Trust Company Bank in Atlanta and later at the Brand Banking Company in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Mrs. Read was the youngest of three children and was preceded in death by her parents, Esther and Leo Marcinowski, her brother Leo Burns Marcinowski, and her sister Minnie Rose Abrams.

She is survived by her devoted husband Richard, her loving sons Judge Richard Read and Russell Read, their respective wives Theresa Read and Julie Read, and her cherished grandchildren Ryan Read, Rachel Read, Jacob Read, Jillian Read, Josalyn Read, and Camilla Zaepfel. She is also survived by her niece, Pamela Mitchell, and nephew, Christopher Abrams.

A graveside funeral service will be held to honor Mrs. Read’s memory at New Live Oak Cemetery, located at 110 West Dallas Avenue, Selma, Alabama, on July 1, 2023.
