Peggy Smith Obituary, Long Time Resident Of Peoria, Has Passed On

Peggy Smith Obituary, Death-On June 22, 2023, Peggy A. Smith, who had reached the age of 79 and had been a resident of Peoria throughout her life, passed away at the Mason City Area Nursing Home. She was born in Peoria on October 10, 1943 and her parents were Lloyd and Dorothy (Rabbe) McCoy. She was the only child in her family.

Peggy is survived by her three sons, Scott Ray Wells of Ireland, Eric Lee Wells of Bartonville, and Dustin (Lisa) Smith of Normal, her six grandchildren, Eric Lee Wells, Jr., Emily Wells, Lauren Wells, Levi Wells, Benjamin Smith, and Alex Smith, and her three great-grandchildren, Silas Oliver Clay Tomlinson, Lainey Ann Wells, and Landon Lee Wells, and her brother, Randy McCoy of Tennessee.

Before she did in 2014, her parents, her brother Jim McCoy, and her nephew Mathew McCoy all went away. In 2014, her husband Orville J. Smith, Jr. passed away, and she herself was preceded in death by her spouse. Peggy was a committed member of the University United Methodist Church as well as an involved citizen of the Peoria community. Her employment history includes stints at the Fleming and Potter Printing Company of Peoria and Murrays Jewelry at various points in time. Her trip to Branson, seeing her grandkids play baseball, and preparing care packages for the upcoming holidays were all very enjoyable experiences for her.

The rituals that are related with cremation have been performed, and a Memorial Service celebrating the life of the departed will take place at a later date.
