Richard Sipes Obituary, Resident of of Winslow, Indiana, Has Sadly Passed Away
Richard Sipes Obituary, Death – On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at the age of seventy years old, Richard Forrest Sipes, who resided in Winslow, Indiana, passed away. Richard passed away in the presence of his devoted wife Linda after a period during which his health had been deteriorating. On February 12, 1953, Richard was welcomed into the world by his parents, Lowell F. Sipes and Dorothy B. Melson, in the city of Gary, Indiana.
Richard is the younger of two children, and he and his sister, Sandra Sipes Smith, spent their childhood in the Chicago metropolitan region. Richard always had a passion for working with his hands, even at a young age. He worked for himself as a mechanic and raced stock cars, and he was always happy to assist friends and family members with auto maintenance or other miscellaneous duties. He also raced stock cars.
Richard and his wife Linda moved to Winslow after the birth of their first son so that they could be closer to Richard’s family. A few of years later, another boy joined the family. In Princeton, Indiana, Richard was employed by J&S Oil as a member of the oil-rig crew. He also worked for Hansens as a Night Watchman and Janitor. Richard delighted in spending his free time fishing and mending vehicles and other small machinery, and he cherished being surrounded by his loving family.
Richard was able to satisfy his desire for skillful work with his hands even after he retired by continuing to work in his repair shop on antique clocks. Richard is survived by his wife Linda (McGlothin) Sipes; children Josh Sipes (Zoe) and Tyler Sipes (Morgan); grandchildren Isaac and Inara Sipes; sister Sandra (Sandy); nephews Jerry and Richard Myers; and a large number of great nieces and nephews. Richard also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Sandra (Sandy).
Richard’s parents and nephew Leon (Tommy) Smith passed away before him. Richard is the last surviving member of his family. At the Lamb Basham Memorial Chapel on Friday, June 30, 2023, visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST). The service will start at two in the afternoon. After the funeral, the body will be transported to the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Petersburg, Indiana, for interment.
