Robert Walpole Obituary, Robert F. Walpole: A Life Filled with Love, Laughter, and Endless Adventures
Robert Walpole Obituary, Death – Robert F. Walpole, 73, peacefully passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023. He was the devoted and loving husband of Janet (Guido) Walpole, and their journey together spanned 51 beautiful years.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, Robert was the son of the late Thomas and Catherine (Jones) Walpole. He graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School before serving his country as an Aviation Structural Mechanic in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
After his honorable discharge, Robert’s life revolved around his family, hard work, and his unique passions. For 35 years, he delighted the neighborhood kids as a Frito-Lay truck driver, playfully tossing out-of-date Doritos and Fritos from the back of his truck, causing a frenzy for snacks. Later, he pursued a career as an HVAC technician and, at the time of his retirement, he worked in the supplements field for Res-Q.
As a true Philadelphia native, Robert was a lifelong Eagles fan and had a special enthusiasm for NASCAR during the ’90s. He cultivated a green thumb inherited from his father, attending horticulture classes at Temple University and creating stunning flower beds and a bountiful vegetable garden.
Bob’s culinary skills shone as he grilled and charcoaled, crafting delectable feasts for his loved ones. He even invented a breakfast delight called “Bacon Dudes,” a crispy treat that won hearts at the breakfast table.
But it was as “Pop Pop” that Robert truly excelled. His grandchildren adored him and basked in his presence. He nurtured their sense of dark humor, entertained them with age-inappropriate jokes, and supported their artistic endeavors. Whether filming horror movies, molding Play-Doh sculptures, or encouraging their creativity, “Pop Pop” was their biggest fan.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Janet, and their three children: Kristin Gilbreath (Theodore) of Marietta, GA; Bob Walpole (Jill) of Schwenksville, PA; and Jessica Manning (Michael) of Bridgewater, NJ. He also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Lucy, Lauren, Owen, Luke, and Beatrice. His brother, Thomas Walpole (Rita) of Spring Hill, FL, also mourns his loss. He was predeceased by his brother, Andrew Walpole.
A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, located at 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041. Family visitation will begin at 12 PM. Condolences and treasured memories can be shared at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.
