Ruth Wright Obituary, Beloved Ruth Arlene Wright, 89, Formerly of Brunswick, MO, Passes Away

Ruth Wright Obituary, Death – Ruth Arlene (Marquess) Wright, 89, formerly of Brunswick, MO, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023, at The Arbors at Harmony Gardens in Warrensburg, MO.

Memorial services to celebrate her life will be held at Breshears Memorial Chapel in Brunswick, MO on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 4:00 P.M. The service will be officiated by Reverend Lanny Lybarger.

Prior to the service, a visitation will take place at the funeral home from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. A private burial will be held at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt, MO.

Ruth was born on August 18, 1933, in Brunswick, MO, to the late Rolland and Thelma (Blakely) Marquess. She graduated from Brunswick High School in 1951 and pursued her education at Kent State University in Kent, OH.

On May 12, 1951, she married the love of her life, G.B. Wright, at the Methodist Church in Brunswick, MO. Together, they were blessed with two children, Vicky and Kelly. Sadly, Kelly passed away on November 17, 1978, and G.B. preceded Ruth in death on February 9, 2006.

Throughout her career, Ruth held various roles, including a telephone operator for Western Light and Telephone in Brunswick, MO, secretary for the Ohio Telephone Company, and caseworker for the State of Ohio Division of Family Services until 1975.

After moving back to Missouri, she continued her service as a caseworker for the State of Missouri Division of Family Services until her retirement in 1991. Ruth and her husband also traveled extensively across the United States, undertaking construction projects together.

Ruth was a devout Christian who cherished her time with family. She had a passion for gardening, tending to indoor plants during the winter and maintaining a bountiful flower and vegetable garden during the summer months.

Left to honor her memory are her daughter, Victoria Antonucci; one grandson, Matthew Wright, and his wife, Christina, of Buffalo, WY; two grandchildren, Tyler Wright of Buffalo, WY, and Bryan Parker of Alton, IL; and one brother, Norman Marquess, and his wife, Mary Ann, of Kansas City, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rolland and Thelma; her beloved husband, G.B.; her son, Kelly Wright; and her brother, Wayne Marquess.
