Sheila Newton Obituary, Beloved Sheila Norris Newton, 68, Embraced Eternity After Courageous Battle – Death
Sheila Newton Obituary, Death – Sheila Norris Newton, age 68, peacefully departed after a brief battle with cancer on June 20th. Born in Erwin, NC on March 6, 1955, she resided in the Raleigh and Durham areas for most of her life.
Sheila grew up in a nurturing household with her late parents, James Avant Norris and Hazel Price Norris. Despite grappling with various health challenges throughout her life, her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ served as a steadfast anchor during difficult times, ultimately guiding her into the compassionate embrace of her Savior.
On June 22, 1977, Sheila joined in matrimony with Bennie Edward Newton, Jr., and together they embraced family life, which included Bennie’s daughter, Tracey.
Over the following years, their family expanded to include a son, Bennie, and a daughter, Stephanie. During her early years as a mother, Sheila devoted herself to homemaking, diligently serving her family on holidays, special occasions, and family gatherings.
Even amid compromised health, she could always be found in the kitchen, preparing cherished dishes for each loved one. As time passed, her children married and began families of their own.
Sheila’s beloved grandchildren—Skylar, Adalyn, Cameron, Ian, and Autumn—became the true sources of joy in her life, and she took immense delight in their present and future.
Sheila is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 46 years, Bennie, Jr., of Durham; her daughter, Tracey (Dwayne) Oldham of Rougemont; her son, Bennie (Laura Catherine) Newton, III of Raleigh; her daughter, Stephanie (Jason) Brust of Benson; her grandchildren, Skylar Oldham, Cameron Newton, Adalyn Brust, Ian Brust, and Autumn Brust; her sisters, Patty (John) Raper, Jr., and Cindy (Terry) Dean; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Avant Norris, Sr., and Hazel Price Norris, as well as her brother, James Avant Norris, Jr.
A funeral service, led by Pastor Jeff Jones, will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 24th, at Hilltop Church in Fuquay Varina. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 12:00 to 12:45 PM to offer condolences and support.
