Simon Bentzinger Obituary, Death – Simon John Bentzinger, a spirited 13-year-old, peacefully embarked on his eternal journey into the Kingdom of his Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 02, 2023.

Surrounded by the loving embrace of his parents, Mark and Jaime (Lowman) Bentzinger, Simon bid farewell to his earthly home in Sutter, Illinois. Born on December 13, 2009, Simon was a cherished student at Nauvoo Jr. High School and a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church in Warsaw, Illinois.

Throughout his brave 3 ½-year battle with cancer, Simon faced each day with an infectious smile and his quick-witted humor. Despite the challenges he endured, Simon’s life was touched by countless blessings.

He embarked on a memorable journey to Seattle, Washington, for a groundbreaking treatment study, where he delighted in the company of his parents, searching for Sasquatch and leaving his mark on the famous Gum Wall.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation granted Simon’s dream of a remarkable “Game Room,” complete with every teenager’s desire, including a mini-fridge.

Simon’s strength and resilience were further celebrated through the generosity of Kelsie’s Hope Foundation, which treated him and his family to a magical vacation at Florida’s Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser.

At a special “Just Because We Can” party, hosted by family friend Travis Conover of Top Dogg Production, Simon discovered his hidden DJ skills. His schoolmates at Sts. Peter and Paul School in Nauvoo, Illinois, faithfully supported him through prayers and threw him a memorable birthday party, accompanied by a generous gift card. They even dedicated the Living Rosary in his honor.

Home was Simon’s sanctuary, where he reveled in swimming, displaying his piscine abilities, and relished anything with a flaming hot flavor. He adored collecting Pokémon cards, immersing himself in the Star Wars universe, and engaging in friendly competitions of Play Nine. Simon’s unique sense of humor often left those around him in laughter or awe.
