Taylor Poirier Obituary, Death – In a devastating turn of events, Taylor and his two children were involved in a horrific accident at the intersection of 76th and Florist.

The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in all three individuals being rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention. Taylor’s son, Brody, aged 6, suffered numerous lacerations and required stitches.

Although his leg was trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed, it miraculously remained unharmed. Taylor’s 3-year-old daughter, Penelope, endured significant emotional trauma and sustained several lacerations, including a deep wound near her eye which caused nerve damage.

Skilled surgeons were able to repair three of the four affected nerves, granting her a 90 percent chance of regaining full control of her eyebrows. Thankfully, both children are now on a path to recovery and are under the loving care of our family.

However, the injuries sustained by Taylor were the most severe. He suffered a traumatic brain injury as a result of the accident, causing increased intracranial pressure and bleeding. Swift action was taken, and he underwent emergency surgery to alleviate the pressure, including the insertion of a shunt in his brain.

Placed in a medically induced coma, Taylor’s body temperature was lowered to assist in reducing the pressure on his brain. Despite the administration of various medications, his condition showed no signs of improvement by Tuesday, the 27th.

Consequently, the medical team made the difficult decision to awaken him from the coma and administer paralytic medication to promote overall relaxation. Taylor’s intracranial pressures remained consistently high, surpassing the desired levels.

Tragically, a CT scan performed on Wednesday, the 28th, revealed substantial brain damage on both sides. Complications arose due to the cooling measures employed, necessitating their cessation, which subsequently led to heart problems.

Despite the valiant efforts of the medical professionals, Taylor’s organs began to fail. Regrettably, on Thursday, the 29th, our devastated family received the heart-wrenching news that Taylor had been declared brain dead.

We made the difficult decision to transition to comfort care, and surrounded by his loved ones, Taylor peacefully passed away at 5:45 PM. The profound loss we feel is immeasurable, and we held him close, embracing one another in tears, struggling to comprehend the reality of our collective grief.

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident was apprehended at the scene and now faces multiple charges. Further details regarding the specific charges will be provided as we receive updates in the days to come.

In light of this tragedy, we are organizing a fundraiser to help cover the funeral expenses, allowing us to bid farewell to Taylor in a dignified manner befitting his memory.
