Walker Ratchford Obituary, Death – Walker Ratchford, age 84, passed away in the comfort of her home in Shelby, North Carolina on June 28, 2023. She was the daughter of James Franklin London and Elease Downs London, both of whom had passed away before her birth on April 28, 1939 in Cleveland County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jamie Lewis Ratchford, two sons, Michael Ratchford and Keith Ratchford, and four brothers: Bobby Gene London, Steven London, James Billie London, and James Franklin London Jr. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Jamie Lewis Ratchford.

Walker’s favorite things to do when she wasn’t lounging on her front porch were watch the shows Gunsmoke and Walker, Texas Ranger. She was well known as Grandma Patsy to all of the children in the area, and “Bommmp” was her go-to catchphrase, which was both humorous and endearing. “Bommmp” was her favorite saying. In addition to that, she was a devoted follower of the Charlotte Hornets. Pat resigned from Marion School after working for more than 30 years in the Cleveland County School System. She will be remembered for her kind smile and gentle voice, which she used to teach students at Marion School.

Patricia London, Dianne Ussery, and Janice Ratchford are Pat’s surviving children. She is also survived by her siblings Betty Jean Wade, Carolyn Mitchell, Linda London, Paul London (Cynthia), Rev. Tommy London (Sharon), and Pastor Claude London (Monica). In addition, she is survived by her grandkids Tajuana Cannon, Kawan London, Mario Harrison, Juran Ratchford, Keenen Ratchford, and Donald London (Britney), as well as six great grandchildren, a dear friend of Pat’s named Pauline Wright, and a large number of loving nieces, nephews, friends, and family members. Her memory will be cherished by all of them.

On Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at three o’clock in the afternoon, a homegoing service will take place in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory. After the service, burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery. The time for the Quiet Hour is going to be from 2:00 to 3:00. Before the funeral service at the funeral home, Mrs. Ratchford will be laid out in honor from nine in the morning until twelve in the afternoon.
