William Beggs Obituary, Resident Of Tallahassee, Florida Has Sadly Passed Away
William Beggs Obituary, Death- On May 11, 2023, in Tallahassee, Florida, William Turner “Billy” Beggs passed away at the age of 86. He passed away quietly with his wife by his side. Because he understood that Jesus was his Lord and Savior, he did not experience any fear. He was the son of Thomas John Jr. and Frances (Wadsworth) Beggs and was born on July 8, 1936 in the city of Madison in the state of Florida.
After graduating from Madison High School in 1954, Billy continued his education at Emory at Oxford and subsequently Emory University, where he was a member of the ATO Fraternity. Billy graduated from Madison High School in 1954. He attended Emory University and graduated with a Bachelor of Business degree in the year 1960. In a ceremony held on May 7, 1960, he wed Barbara Anne Naughton. After that, in 1964, he attended Gupton Jones Mortuary School in Dallas, Texas, and received an Associate of Science degree from there. In addition to obtaining a comprehensive education, Billy proudly served in the United States Army Reserves, including being on active duty for a total of six months.
Billy attended the First United Methodist Church in Madison, Florida, throughout his childhood. Later in life, he joined the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Madison, and after moving to Tallahassee, he attended the Blessed Sacrament Church there. He was very involved in the community and not only worked as a page for the Florida Senate and the United States Senate, but he also enjoyed membership in the Jaycees, Lyon’s Club (where he was the past president), Madison F&AM #11 Masonic Lodge, Shriners, the Tallahassee Town Club, Republican Club of Tallahassee, Eastside Business Association, Economics Club of Tallahassee, Tiger Bay, Madison Country Club, and was on the founding board of Madison Academy in 1969.
Billy’s deepest passions in life were his wife and children, as well as spending quality time with his family. Gardening, hunting, fishing, and golfing were among his favorite things to do in his leisure time. It didn’t matter where he went, he was able to find people to befriend, and his primary goal in life was to make other people happy and laugh.
His siblings Frances Beggs Winter and Ann Beggs Reddick, as well as his brothers Thomas John Beggs III and Ashley Paramore Beggs, all away before him. His parents were the first members of his family to pass away. Surviving family members include his wife of 63 years, Barbara Ann Naughton Beggs; daughter Frances Corine Beggs Litton of Fort Myers, Florida; sons William Turner Beggs Jr. of Orlando, Florida and Edward Charles “Ted” Beggs (Carol) of Madison, Florida; grandchildren: Katie McKeogh-Jones (Jeff), Michael McKeogh (Dana), Alexa Beggs, Reed Gaston, Mason Gaston
On Friday, May 19, at 11 a.m., there will be a service performed at the graveside of Billy Beggs in Oak Ridge Cemetery, which is located at 394 NW Meeting Ave. in Madison, Florida. Beggs Funeral Home in Monticello, Florida is in charge of the services.
