On the first day of the year 1949, on New Year’s Day, Zachary Lee Stokes was brought into the world by his parents, Lula Mae Stokes and Billy Lee Stokes. They were living in Fort Worth, Texas at the time. From a very young age, Zach embodied the spirit of the term “cowboy” in every way. Zach was a very hard worker who showed a lot of dedication to his work and took a lot of pride in what he had accomplished.

Zach was a founding member of both the Sheriff Posse and the National Association Riding organization. In addition, he served on the Executive Board of the organization and was a member of the Rules Committee. He was a judge for the Texas Youth Bull Riders Association, the Pro Youth Rodeo Association, and the North Texas High School Association. In addition, he directed the arena for all three of those organizations.

Not only did those in attendance at the rodeo benefit from Zach’s generous nature, but everyone he interacted with did. Zach offered his time and assistance for free to anyone or anything that needed a “Cowboy” touch. Zach thoroughly enjoyed giving his time to a variety of charitable organizations and events, one of which was the annual Bell Haunted House, which was organized to collect funds for the Fort Worth Women’s Shelter.
